How It Works

On Ironveil, this skill develops your companion’s combat role. The familiar Bushido skill slot is used for Pet Mastery in the Beastmaster path.

Skill summary, training and related paths
Power Scroll and cap information

Maximum skill: 120 with a matching Power Scroll. It starts with a 100 cap. Scrolls unlock 105, 110, 115 or 120; you still train the points and keep the same shared total of 720.

Understanding effective skill

Which value counts? Pet Mastery uses effective Bushido. Beastmaster supporting power is a separate multiplier based on the required BASE supporting skills.

PvP

Ironveil does not offer this as the normal Samurai PvP ability path. Companion PvM role bonuses do not transfer to player combat.

PvM

Bushido is Pet Combat Mastery. Companion outgoing power is 40% at 0, 70% at 80, 85% at 100 and 100% at 120. Rank, support template and the selected pet role are separate factors.

Requirements

Use an eligible companion and the Beastmaster system. Pets start unbonded at Level 1, become bonded at Level 2 and unlock ability slots at 5 / 10 / 15.

How to use it, step by step

If a step says to use a skill, open your character window, choose Skills and use the button beside that skill. If it says to use a tool, double-click the tool in your backpack. Passive benefits work automatically.

  1. Follow Beastmaster progression with an owned combat pet and the appropriate Codex.
  2. Fight valid monsters with that companion.
  3. Develop the pet’s selected role and learned abilities while meeting their level and progression requirements.

What changes as your skill rises

Read the conditions above each table. A percentage may describe a chance, a damage component or a multiplier: those are different things. The other values stay fixed unless the table says otherwise.

What the skill affects: Pet Mastery uses effective Bushido. Beastmaster supporting power is a separate multiplier based on the required BASE supporting skills.

Detailed formulas and comparison tables

The role-skill part of PvM power

Keep Codex rank, other skills, equipment and target unchanged. This is one multiplier in the calculation, not a promise of this many points of damage.

Additional role bonuses

Each pet has one role. The table shows the skill contribution before other pet bonuses, caps and integer rounding of the final result.

80+10%10%13% / +16%
90+11%11%15% / +18%
100+12%12%16% / +20%

The offensive-role bonus itself caps at +12% from skill 100, but the separate outgoing role-skill factor continues from 85% at 100 to 100% at 120. Do not add these two percentages together; they occur in different steps.

100–120 scaling: what you gain

100–120 scaling: what you gain

Only the skill in the first column changes unless the table says otherwise. Each extra trained point still uses one point from your shared total of 720.

Pet role contributions against monsters

Eligible owned pet, same role, rank and template. Role bonuses are separate from the outgoing power factor and from other caps.

Each pet has one role. These columns are alternatives, not bonuses you receive all together. The role systems keep their existing PvM restrictions and final caps.

Examples in play

Easy examples

Different pets have different jobs

An offensive pet role focuses on damage; a tank role focuses on surviving attacks. Pet Mastery strengthens the role the pet actually has. It does not give every pet all role bonuses at once.

Advanced notes

Things to remember

  • Pet level, learned ability slots, Codex rank and your Pet Mastery skill are separate requirements.
  • The listed maximum role bonuses also depend on the Beastmaster’s supporting skills.
Training and Skill Progression

TRAINING / SKILL PROGRESSION

One recommended activity for each skill range, with a short note on what you need.

Before you start: set Bushido / Pet Mastery to Up and leave room under the shared 720-point total. Set an unwanted skill to Down if the total is full.

NPC training: when the trainer listed for this skill offers a lesson, the fixed price is 300 gold and the lesson can reach 50.0 if both the individual and total caps have room.

Training area: supported Academy actions receive 5× normal gain through 80.0. An action still needs to run a real skill check; the Academy bonus cannot make an automatic or blocked action train.

Beyond 100: consume the matching 105, 110, 115 or 120 Power Scroll first. A scroll raises only the individual cap; it grants no trained points and does not increase the shared 720-point total.

Recommended training

Repeat the single activity listed for your level. These are practical training choices; the ranges are recommendations, not new unlock requirements.

Rules and numbers

The offensive-role damage addition caps at +12% from effective Bushido 100, while the separate outgoing endgame factor continues improving up to 120. At 120, tank reduction reaches 15%, utility cooldown reduction 20% and utility healing addition 25%. Pet level, rank, other bonuses and Beastmaster supporting-skill power are separate parts of the final calculation.

Listed amounts describe the stated conditions. Equipment, target rules, damage, healing limits and other effects can change the final result. An example of a chance is never a promise of the same outcome on every attempt.
