CREATURE COMBAT

PvM roles and their real Codices

Ironveil has no permanent class selector. A PvM role comes from the skills you train, the book you carry and the XP earned by that book from valid monster combat.

SIX ROLES · FIVE BOOKS

The Warrior Codex contains both Berserker and Guardian. Every other path has its own complete book. PvM bonuses validate creatures and do not add their damage or control against players.

Martial PvM: three separate roles

RoleRole-skill inputFull supporting skillsWhat the role scales
BerserkerAverage of melee weapon skill and MysticismTactics 100 · Anatomy 100 · Focus 100 · Arms Lore 80Offensive melee, penetration and Berserker techniques
GuardianAverage of Mysticism and Parrying; shield requiredTactics 100 · Focus 100 · Arms Lore 100 · Healing 80Tank accuracy, threat, mitigation and Guardian techniques
ArcherAverage of Archery and ChivalryTactics 100 · Focus 100 · Arms Lore 100 · Tracking 80 · Anatomy 80Ranged accuracy, Momentum and Archer techniques

For the endgame attack-bonus component, each role evaluates its own input: 0 / 80 / 100 / 120 gives a 40 / 70 / 85 / 100% factor, subject to role entry requirements. Rank and that role's support template are separate factors. This curve does not describe every technique or final damage. Berserker retains its 90% weapon-base normalization, while Guardian and Archer keep their own calculations.

Poison delivery against creatures

RuleCurrent PvM behavior
Ordinary weapon deliveryMeet the stored coating’s trained requirement first: Lesser 30 / Regular 50 / Greater 80 / Deadly or Lethal 100. Eligible delivery uses 25% + effective Poisoning / 4, reaching 50% at 100
Taste IdentificationNo extra level below 50; one extra level from 50 through 120
Ordinary weapon tier bonusTaste Identification 50+ adds exactly one level, including Deadly to Lethal; never +2
Legacy Weapon AbilitiesUnavailable to player characters, including Infectious Strike

The final poison level, including the Taste Identification bonus, is compared with the poison already active on the creature. A charge is consumed only when that final poison is actually applied. Its first damage tick is immediate and is one of the normal ticks; reapplying the same active level does not repeat it.

The one-level Taste Identification bonus also applies to the supported single-target Magery Poison spell against creatures. Poison Field receives no Taste Identification bonus. Alchemy does not change weapon proc chance, tier, charges or poison damage.

RANK 1–5

Each Blessed book has its own XP

A Scribe sells the five books at Rank 1 for 2,500 gold. Inscription uses 100 Blank Scrolls and 20 Arcane Essence per book: Normal starts at Rank 1 and Exceptional at Rank 2. Every copy advances separately through valid monster combat.

BARD CODEX · WORLD FEEDBACK

Read the effect directly in the fight

Beneficial songs show a colored overhead label and particle pulse on eligible allies and companions. Monster debuffs show their own label and pulse; area activations briefly mark the exact perimeter in map tiles.

STANDARD PVM ENCOUNTERS

Six species with distinct mechanics

These standard encounters have their own combat HP and an additional absolute ceiling per damage hit. Watch their ground warnings and move before impact; a tank player, pet or Gargoyle remains a valid main target.

SpeciesCombat HPAbsolute hit ceilingCharacteristic mechanics
Dragon · never-owned wild only90059Fire Ring · four fireballs · Wing Sweep
White Wyrm · never-owned wild only60054Glacial Lance · Frost Bloom · Frost Breath
Balron90085Infernal Sigil · Infernal Fracture · Demonic Call
Shadow Wyrm70071Venom Ring · Shadow Echo · Shadow Sweep
Skeletal Dragon65071Bone Lance · Grave Echo · Bone Splinters
Ancient Lich65071Arcane Rune · Mana Rune · Soul Tether

The boss keeps its main aggro target. Secondary mechanics can select recent significant ranged contributors, including players credited for pet or summon damage. The new mechanics share a cooldown of at least 12 seconds per boss and cannot overlap with another new mechanic from that boss.

The Dragon fires four orange projectiles in sequence, each capped at 10 HP and aimed at a separately warned impact point. They do not track a player after that point is fixed. Fire and poison rings leave a reachable exit; an invalid ring is cancelled rather than trapping a player behind terrain.

The additional cap limits each damage packet: the effective ceiling is the lower of the existing percentage cap and the species’ absolute limit. Multi-hit abilities are checked per hit or tick, not once for their combined total. Resistances and other valid combat modifiers still apply.

IRONVEIL PVM RULES

Paragons and retired native effects

Paragon conversion is disabled on Ironveil. Authored boss species remain present, but no longer gain the native Paragon package. Eligible existing wild Paragons are normalized safely; player-owned and protected pets are excluded.

The identified native wild-monster set no longer uses the retired bleed, poison/immunity, reflection or extreme regeneration packages. This is a targeted native cleanup, not a blanket removal of every custom boss mechanic or resistance.

Retired native artifacts, obsolete Necromancy ingredients and Salvage Bags are not generated as new loot or normal shop stock. This does not delete items already legitimately owned by players.
