How It Works

On Ironveil, Chivalry is the special role skill for the Archer path against monsters. Archery helps the arrow hit; Chivalry develops the Archer Codex’s power.

Skill summary, training and related paths
Power Scroll and cap information

Maximum skill: 120 with a matching Power Scroll. It starts with a 100 cap. Scrolls unlock 105, 110, 115 or 120; you still train the points and keep the same shared total of 720.

Understanding effective skill

Which value counts? The Archer calculations use effective Chivalry and Archery. The Archer supporting-skill calculation separately uses its required base skills.

How to use it, step by step

If a step says to use a skill, open your character window, choose Skills and use the button beside that skill. If it says to use a tool, double-click the tool in your backpack. Passive benefits work automatically.

  1. Carry an Archer Codex and equip a ranged weapon.
  2. Land hits on valid monsters or the supported Academy targets to train the role skill.
  3. Open the Codex and use techniques for which you meet the rank, skill, weapon and resource requirements.

What changes as your skill rises

Read the conditions above each table. A percentage may describe a chance, a damage component or a multiplier: those are different things. The other values stay fixed unless the table says otherwise.

What the skill affects: The Archer calculations use effective Chivalry and Archery. The Archer supporting-skill calculation separately uses its required base skills.

Detailed formulas and comparison tables

Chivalry in the ordinary PvM attack multiplier

Qualified Archer with Archery fixed at 100. This part uses the average of Archery and Chivalry. Rank, template support and other effects are separate.

Effective ChivalryAverage skillEndgame factor
809077.5%
909581.25%
10010085%

Archery 120 and Chivalry 120 give average 120 and a 100% factor. This is a factor inside the PvM attack bonus, not a flat multiplier for every attack or spell. Native Chivalry spells have separate skill, karma, mana and target rules.

100–120 scaling: what you gain

100–120 scaling: what you gain

Only the skill in the first column changes unless the table says otherwise. Each extra trained point still uses one point from your shared total of 720.

PvM attack-bonus contribution

Keep Archery at 100, with the required Codex and template. This factor uses the average of the two skills; rank and supporting skills are separate.

Role skillAverage with partnerEndgame factor
10010085%
11010588.75%
12011092.5%

With both this skill and Archery at 120 the average is 120 and this factor reaches 100%. It is one part of the PvM attack bonus, not a promise of that much extra final damage. These custom Codex bonuses apply to eligible monsters.

Examples in play

Two skills for two jobs

Your arrows hit reliably because Archery is trained, but an Archer Codex technique still asks for more role skill. That requirement refers to Chivalry; more Archery alone does not satisfy it.

Advanced notes

Things to remember

  • The role-power values below are one part of PvM ability strength, not a percentage chance to hit.
  • Sacred Journey requires Chivalry 80 or Mysticism 80, uses 5 mana and no tithing; it also works from a runebook without requiring the spell in a Chivalry book. Native Chivalry spells, where valid, have their own book and casting rules.
  • Owning a Codex does not automatically give Rank 5 or full supporting skills.
Training and Skill Progression

TRAINING / SKILL PROGRESSION

One recommended activity for each skill range, with a short note on what you need.

Before you start: set Chivalry to Up and leave room under the shared 720-point total. Set an unwanted skill to Down if the total is full.

NPC training: when the trainer listed for this skill offers a lesson, the fixed price is 300 gold and the lesson can reach 50.0 if both the individual and total caps have room.

Training area: supported Academy actions receive 5× normal gain through 80.0. An action still needs to run a real skill check; the Academy bonus cannot make an automatic or blocked action train.

Beyond 100: consume the matching 105, 110, 115 or 120 Power Scroll first. A scroll raises only the individual cap; it grants no trained points and does not increase the shared 720-point total.

Recommended training

Repeat the single activity listed for your level. These are practical training choices; the ranges are recommendations, not new unlock requirements.

Weapon accuracy training has its own opposed check. Do not confuse that check with this role skill.

Rules and numbers

For a qualified Archer, the ordinary PvM attack bonus uses the average of effective Archery and Chivalry. The shared endgame curve gives factors 40%, 70%, 85% and 100% at average skill 0, 80, 100 and 120, before the other applicable rank and supporting-skill calculations. Individual techniques have their own rules. Sacred Journey requires Chivalry 80.0 or Mysticism 80.0, costs 5 mana and no tithing, and can be used from a runebook without owning the spell.

Listed amounts describe the stated conditions. Equipment, target rules, damage, healing limits and other effects can change the final result. An example of a chance is never a promise of the same outcome on every attempt.
