Eval Int controls the progressive damage factor for supported direct Magery spells: 52% at 0, 54% at 20, 60% at 40, 65% at 50, 70% at 60, 85% at 80 and 100% at its hard cap of 100.

Evaluating Intelligence
Magic · Skill guide
Controls supported direct Magery damage and is the main Arcane Mage support requirement.
How do I train this skill?
Recommended activities for Evaluating Intelligence at each skill range.
View the training tableHow It Works
Understand a target’s mental ability and improve offensive magic. It is often shortened to Eval Int. Its combat benefit works automatically.
Skill summary, training and related paths
Power Scroll and cap information
Maximum skill: 100. This skill has no active Power Scroll. It cannot train beyond 100 under the current rules.
Understanding effective skill
Which value counts? Supported direct Magery spells against players use effective Evaluating Intelligence on Ironveil’s progressive curve. The separate Arcane supporting-skill multiplier uses base Evaluating Intelligence, with the same hard endpoint of 100.
Native spell damage and the separate Arcane support-template multiplier use different formulas. Do not transfer one table to every spell or Codex effect.
Requirements
The active information skill and passive spell calculations are different uses. Eval Int has no active Power Scroll and cannot train beyond 100.
How to use it, step by step
If a step says to use a skill, open your character window, choose Skills and use the button beside that skill. If it says to use a tool, double-click the tool in your backpack. Passive benefits work automatically.
- To examine a target, use Evaluating Intelligence from Skills and select a creature.
- To benefit in combat, cast your normal offensive spells.
- For the Arcane monster-fighting path, train it alongside Magery and Arcanism.
What changes as your skill rises
Read the conditions above each table. A percentage may describe a chance, a damage component or a multiplier: those are different things. The other values stay fixed unless the table says otherwise.
What the skill affects: Supported direct Magery spells against players use effective Evaluating Intelligence on Ironveil’s progressive curve. The separate Arcane supporting-skill multiplier uses base Evaluating Intelligence, with the same hard endpoint of 100.
Detailed formulas and comparison tables
Direct Magery damage against a player
Magery remains a separate multiplier. Values are the share of the listed 100 Magery / 100 Eval Int target range, before Inscription, defences, critical hits and rounding.
| Effective Eval Int | Damage factor |
|---|---|
| 0 | 52% |
| 20 | 54% |
| 40 | 60% |
| 50 | 65% |
| 60 | 70% |
| 80 | 85% |
| 100 | 100% |
Arcane Mage: contribution to the supporting-skill multiplier
Only this skill changes. Every other supporting skill is already at its target. This skill’s target is 100. The multiplier applies to the relevant custom PvM output, not every attack or every spell.
| Trained base skill | Supporting-skill multiplier |
|---|---|
| 80 | 95.99% |
| 90 | 97.99% |
| 100 | 100% |
The direct-spell curve applies to Magic Arrow, Harm, Fireball, Lightning, Mind Blast, Energy Bolt, Explosion, Chain Lightning, Meteor Swarm and Flame Strike. Flame Strike caps its Magery/Eval contribution at 100. Earthquake, fields, poison, summons and PvM spell formulas remain separate.
The Arcane table keeps Meditation at base 100 and Focus at base 80. Arcanism, Codex rank and Spirit Speak still multiply Arcane output separately.
Examples in play
Easy examples
Knowing the spell is only the start
Two mages can cast the same offensive spell but have different Eval Int. Their damage can differ even if their Magery is equal. The target’s defences still affect the final result.

Advanced notes
Things to remember
- Eval Int is not an extra spell that you must use before every attack.
- Greater Heal uses Magery for its amount; training Eval Int does not replace Magery for healing.
Training and Skill Progression
TRAINING / SKILL PROGRESSION
One recommended activity for each skill range, with a short note on what you need.
Before you start: set Evaluating Intelligence to Up and leave room under the shared 720-point total. Set an unwanted skill to Down if the total is full.
NPC training: when the trainer listed for this skill offers a lesson, the fixed price is 300 gold and the lesson can reach 50.0 if both the individual and total caps have room.
Training area: supported Academy actions receive 5× normal gain through 80.0. An action still needs to run a real skill check; the Academy bonus cannot make an automatic or blocked action train.
Recommended training
Repeat the single activity listed for your level. These are practical training choices; the ranges are recommendations, not new unlock requirements.
| Your skill | What to repeat | Quick note |
|---|---|---|
| 0.0–50.0 | Mage lesson | Optional NPC lesson; 300 gold when offered and room under your caps. |
| 50.0–80.0 | Use Evaluate Intelligence on a living target | Use direct evaluation on a valid living target or an eligible spell check. |
| 80.0–100.0 | Use Evaluate Intelligence on a living target | Use direct evaluation on a valid living target or an eligible spell check. |
Rules and numbers
Against players, supported direct Magery spells use a progressive Eval Int factor: 52% at 0, 54% at 20, 60% at 40, 65% at 50, 70% at 60, 85% at 80 and 100% at 100. Magery multiplies this separately. Eval Int has no active Power Scroll and the dedicated Arcane template also reaches its full Eval Int support at 100.0.

Listed amounts describe the stated conditions. Equipment, target rules, damage, healing limits and other effects can change the final result. An example of a chance is never a promise of the same outcome on every attempt.
